Warrior (2011)

Director: Gavin O’Connor
Writers: Gavin O’Connor, Anthony Tambakis, Cliff Dorfman
Stars: Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton

Two estranged brothers, one a Marine Iraq War vet and the other a physics teacher, wind up competing against each other in a no-holds-barred MMA tournament.

It’s a well put together movie, and actually not what I had expected, which was a refreshing surprise. The fight scenes are done well, even if with a little too much shaky cam, but are not edited to pieces like many action movies are these days. While I don’t know that this film will make the final cut, it is well worth seeing. Even if, like me, you’re not a fan of MMA fighting.
