The Ugly Truth (2009)

Director: Robert Luketic
Writers: Nicole Eastman, Karen McCullah, & Kirsten Smith (screenplay), Nicole Eastman (story)
Stars: Katherine Heigl, Gerard Butler, Bree Turner

A controlling TV show producer gets dating advice from a misogynistic coworker… and they end up falling in love. Yes, it’s a romcom, but not bad. Ultimately, however, it’s a modern retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac with a gender flip. Don’t see it? His misogyny is his ugly big nose.

It’s a pretty good film, but if I want a modern retelling of Cyrano, my money’s on Roxanne (1987) with Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah.
