The Natural (1984)

Director: Barry Levinson
Writers: Bernard Malamud (novel), Roger Towne & Phil Dusenberry (screenplay)
Stars: Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Glenn Close

Middle-aged man arrives is recruited out of nowhere to a big league baseball team in the 1939 for a second chance at the game. From the beginning of the movie, where so much is said with so little dialog, to the possibly cryptic ending, this movie holds you. Not something I expected to be saying, but there you have it. Very much worth a watch.

No matter what talent you are born with, it means nothing if you don’t develop and work at it.
