McLintock! (1963)

Director: Andrew V. McLaglen
Writer: James Edward Grant
Stars: John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Patrick Wayne

Wealthy rancher contends with government officials, Indians, and homesteaders when his estranged wife returns home for a divorce and custody of their daughter. After being a huge pain for most of the movie, the wife winds up getting a public spanking. What can I say, it’s a product of the times.

For the most part it’s the western version of The Quiet Man (also staring Wayne & O’Hare). While McLintock! is a fun movie, The Quiet Man is the superior film. If you’re into Wayne and westerns, this is a good choice. Otherwise, watch the other one.
