Hoosiers (1986)

Director: David Anspaugh
Writer: Angelo Pizzo
Stars: Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper

With the help of the local drunk, a former college basketball coaches turns a small town high school team into contenders for the state championship in 1951 Indiana. Based on a true story.

Good movie and uplifting, but lacking a little in character development. When the movie was over, I still couldn’t remember more than two names of the team members, or most of the supporting cast.
