Boyz N The Hood (1991)

Director: John Singleton
Writer: John Singleton
Stars: Cuba Gooding Jr., Laurence Fishburne, Hudhail Al-Amir, Ice Cube, Nia Long

Boyz N The Hood is a bit of an odd movie in some regards, and in others is very straight forward. It’s kind of a coming of age movie, but not. If you’re not paying attention you get subtle doses of wisdom of being a good man, and being a good black man. Life in the ghetto, and a bit of race relations, too. If you are paying attention, there’s so much more.

This is a good film, and one you should see, regardless of your ethnicity. And enjoy a movie made before everyone became offended by everything, because this movie would not be made today. No chance Hollywood would produce a film like this that involves a 12 year old kid saying he sticks his dick in the 11 year old girl across the street every night.
