A River Runs Through It (1992)

Director: Robert Redford
Writers: Norman Maclean (story), Richard Friedenberg (screenplay)
Stars: Craig Sheffer, Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt

Two brothers raised by their stern minister father find their way in Montana and the world, and in fly fishing. A well shot movie, with gorgeous scenes of fly fishing. The rest of it is shot well, too. Much of the story takes place in 1926, and while movies set in this time period tend to pull out all the stops to make sure you know it’s the 20’s, by going overboard, this one doesn’t. A few times I even forgot it was set in the 20’s, which only served to draw me into the story more.
